About Product

This project is something different from the usual one You do. In this project We are using graphite which is one of the allotrope of carbon. It was named by abraham gottlob werner in 1789. It is that mineral which we are using to write which we commonly called pencil lead. Graphite is an electrical conductor, a semimetal, and can be used, for instance in the electrodes of an arc lamp. Here we will graphite as a resistor. So don’t waste time and carry on with your project! How it works on connecting the battery with the battery snap and allowing the metal rod to touch The graphite of pencil you will observe that bulb glows brightly. Then by dragging the metal rod away from the slide of the clip you would observe that the glow of the bulb decreases consequently, it became faint and at last the glow disappears. Why: on connecting the metal rod with Graphite the bulb glows because the circuit gets completed. Graphite, which is a non metal, It is a good conductor of electricity. When the metal rod comes into contact of graphite the circuit gets completed and thus the bulb glows. Graphite here works as resistor. Resistor opposites the flow of current. It is in the direction opposite to that of electric current. So as you move the metal rod the resistance increases due to which the flow of current decreases. Thus the glow of the bulb becomes fainter and fainter and at last it disappears.
